We’ve all heard the saying “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you’ve fed him for a lifetime.” This is what my version of “guided trips,” if you want to call them that, are all about. When I first offered guided adventures more than 10 years ago, I felt odd taking money from someone to take them fishing. Then, I got wiser and thought about how many river trips I’d made, how much money and time it cost me to learn all that I’ve learned; I realized that by offering these adventures I can save them from having to spend the same amount of time and money to learn what I’ve learned on how to catch more and bigger river bass!

The goal of these trips is essentially up to the customer, but the reason I created them was to teach. If someone just wants a normal guided trip where the goal is to catch as many and as big a fish as we can, I can certainly do that, but that isn’t why I chose to offer these trips. I want anyone who leaves one of my trips to be a much better angler so they can catch more and bigger fish when they take their own river adventures. I’ll make sure we cover topics such as:

  • Pre-trip online scouting and how to determine “which river” and “which section” to fish, and why
  • Understanding the river gauges, and how to use them to your advantage
  • Paddle technique and “reading the river”
  • Proper use of an Anchor Wizard and/or Power Pole and when and why to use either
  • Understanding reels, gear ratios, line, rod action and how they combine to help you land more fish
  • How to approach and cast within each river section we encounter – shoals, pools, bends, straight aways…
  • Choosing the proper lure/technique and when or where to use them
  • And much more, including any and all topics you want to learn more about

I’ve been blessed to take over 700 river trips in my lifetime, and I want to share these lessons and experience with you, so that you too can enjoy God’s beautiful creation while conquering wild waters!

These fishing adventures are mostly offered in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia but depending on my travel and filming schedule for Hooked on Wild Waters, there is always a chance I will be able to offer you a trip closer to your home if you aren’t able to come to the southeast.
